Bug Description

Hi,

HTTP links are lost when the SVG document is saved as PDF.

The issue can be quickly reproduced as follows:
1. Launch Inkscape,
2. Create any graphic in the document,
3. Right click on the graphic,
4. Select the contextual menu item "Create Link...",
5. Right click again on the graphic,
6. Select the contextual menu item "Link Properties",
7. Type in the field "Href" a URL such as http://www.inkscape.org ,
8. Close the dialog "Link Properties",
9. Save the document as a PDF file,
10. Open the PDF file through a PDF reader (such as Acrobat Reader),
11. Move the mouse pointer over the graphic,
12. There is unexpectedly NOT any HTTP link available !

Could anybody solve this issue ?

I am using Inkscape 0.46 in a MacOS 10.5.7 PPC platform.

Thank you very much for your help.

Xav

We use cairo library to export to pdf http://cairographics.org.
In cairo links in documents are not supported at the moment. It is on the plan for the next release cycle http://cairographics.org/roadmap/.

I have the same problem here with v 0.48. I understand the cairo library limitation but I just wonder if it could, at least, be possible inkscape keep links when exporting to latex format. We would finally, be able to keep our links when converting from .tex to pdf.

(By the way, congratulation to inkscape team. It is a really good and powerfull software!)

I would really love to have hyperlinks survive PDF export.

Just found this - pity it did not work out - maybe it did not receive enough publicity:

I have a very hackish workaround, through a python script [1] I wrote which takes the PDF that Inkscape outputs and adds hyperlinks to it. The instructions on how to use it is in the header comment in the script.

The upstream bugreport has been closed. Maybe this feature could be reevaluated.
