Most of the basic shape elements (SVG 1.1) cannot be edited

Inkscape doesn't allow editing a number of geometric SVG elements like polylines, circles and ellipses. Here are slightly modified examples from http://www.w3schools.com to test.

Should we consider it as a bug or as a wishlist?
Since Inkscape hasn't reached version 1.0, I'd say it's a (strong) wish.
