Bug Description

Hi,

The vertical ruler has disappeared in this version. I have installed Inkscape from the repository and also tried the "develop" version. In both versions I can only see some pixels of the graduations and one or two pixels are following the cursor.
I tried to hide/display the rulers but nothing changes.
I attached a screenshot of what I can see.
I can tell about the x86 version in Jaunty as I switched to amd64 on this release.

I have the same problem. Please upload fixed version to repos as soon as possible. It's important for me to have a vertical ruler to create vertical guides.

Nick: That's now how it works. Inkscape developers don't upload compiled packages to the repos. The packagers of each distribution compile the packages and sent them to repositories.
Most of distributions only upload stable releases of software to their repositories, so Inkscape won't be in repositories until the official release of 0.47
Meanwhile you can use a development build (Tobias Wolff has a PPA with recent builds).

Have same problem. However, can, with some difficulty, grab the end of a subdivision mark, and drag out vertical guides.

I have the same problem in Ubuntu 9.04 i386, and no matter how hard I try I can't manage to grab a vertical guide like @BruceHill does. My work around is:

1. Draw vertical lines where I want the vertical guides to appear
2. Select Object > Object to Guides (or Shift-G) to convert lines into guides

This is in fact much more efficient than dragging guides from the the ruler. TIP: If you convert a rectangle into guides, Inkscape will create 4 guides along each side of the shape.

The only thing that's annoying is that there appears no easy way to clear all the guides. Right now I've been dealing with it by opening up the file in an edit and removed all the <sodipodi:guide /> nodes so I won't have to do it manually. Currently reading up on documentation to do it natively so hopefully soon I can just select that as an effect. :)

I have recently upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10, and have installed Inkscape 0.47 on two computers: one has a 22" LCD monitor at 1680x1050 px (native resolution) and the other on an 18" CRT monitor at 1024x768 px.

The problem with the vertical ruler seems to have been mostly fixed, but there is still some loss of the graduation ticks.

The "Default Units" set for the document (FILE>DOCUMENT PROPERTIES) seems to affect how much of the scale is visible. For "pixels" to "inches" all is well. If the units are set at "feet" only the tips of the ticks are visible. If the units are set at "meters" then there is considerable loss.

The above description pertains to the LCD monitor. However, the effect is less noticable for the CRT monitor.

I can think of a possible explanation for the difference between the LCD monitor and the CRT monitor.

But I don't understand why a change of scale/default units should cjhnge how much of the ticks is visible.

affects: ubuntu → inkscape (Ubuntu)
