export garbled

I have an svg file I created with inkscape which is mostly a composite of other files I have taken from other programs, like tex. This file is garbled whenever I try to print or convert to another format. It is always garbled in some way.

I'm using inkscape 0.46 on ubuntu 8.10

- could you attach a copy of a garbled format
- have you tried .pdf output?

Sure here's a ps copy, that doesn't look the same, a pdf using cairo export.
and a print to pdf.

    yes, there were at least two distinct problems, one related to gradients and one related to text. Attached is a pdf output obtained on Windows XP using the development version 21024.
    there is a problem with text that apparently originally was a bitmap. The text shows up in Inkscape with a mask property and the mask refers to an svg:defs element that has a data type : image/png. So it looks as though a bitmap is being blacked out on printout.

Still some garbling and already in the viewport the center paragraph has a line height that is too high.
