hatching with Intuos3 pen crashes inkscape

Bug Description

Inkscape always crashes the first time I try to draw a calligraphy tool hatching with my Intuos3 pen with pressure sensitivity activated. When I turn pressure sensitivity off, I might be able to draw 1 or 2 hatchings before a crash. The mouse creates hatchings OK, but, of course, there is no pressure sensitivity. I want to be able to draw calligraphy tool hatchings using my pressure sensitive tablet pen.

Inkscape 0.46
Hewlett Packard m8020n TV PC
Intel Core2 CPU 6420 @ 2.13GHz
RAM 2GB
32-bit Operating System
Windows Vista Home Premium and Service Pak 1

I just downloaded Inkscape Nightly Build 03-23-09 and it did not solve the problem.

<Calligraphy Tool>

 ==Width, Tremor, Wiggle, Mass sliders==

 Difficult and sometimes impossible to set the exact desired number via only trying to adjust the actual slider.

When I click on the words Width, Tremor, Wiggle, Mass then use the Left/Right arrow keys to change the value, it will only increase or decrease the number by one. If I want to increase/decrease the value by more than one, I must first click on Width, Tremor, Wiggle, Mass then press a Left or Right arrow key only once to change the value by just one number then click on a word again then arrow key again. I have to go through the whole procedure however many numbers I want to increase or decrease the setting.

You should be able to adjust Width, Tremor, Wiggle, Mass exactly the same way as you adjust Thinning, Angle, Fixation, Caps. In other words, Inkscape 0.46 has these adjustments set up perfectly. The new way thay are set up in Nightly Build 03-23-09 is a giant step backward.

<Freehand/Pencil Tool>

 ==CTRL+Click dots==

Doesn’t work, no dots, nothing.

 ==Drawing with Pencil==

Whatever I draw is automatically simplified all the way down to having only two nodes. Pencil properties doesn’t indicate any reason why this might be happening. Is there a Pencil setting I haven’t found to stop the automatic simplification?

I'm having the same exact problem with 0.46. Haven't tried the latest nightly build.

Can anyone that could reproduce this in the past please try with a newer build of Inkscape? I'm also thinking this might be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284546

Since we can't track multiple (unrelated) issues in a single report, whatever was added in comment #1 should be reported separately (please check for duplicates, these have likely been reported elsewhere already, in parts maybe fixed).

Linking as duplicate to bug #284546.
