chinese characters not supported

Chinese characters not supported during text input (does not appear correctly). Korean hangul and Japanese kana working fine, respective kanji and hanja not working however. Each character appears broken and incomplete.

Which version? Can you please provide an example svg too?

I have a svg using some chinese characters. That works fine. The file was created on a english WindowsXP in November 2007. The computer had some (i don't know which) chinese-input-method. To create the pdf I converted Text_to_path. HTH. Adib.

@benlisquare - Could you please confirm you still have characters issues with recent Inkscape versions?
If so, please attach a file showing the bug so that we can investigate.

Closing due to lack of feedback. Feel free to reopen the report if the problem still persists with current versions of Inkscape (>= 0.48.x) and attach a sample SVG file. It would also be helpful if you could provide details about your OS (input methods and font substitution of characters not found in the current font might differ depending on the platform-specific font backend).
