It just depends on which color you apply, i.e. the color of the tool. For example, take a middle-saturation green object, enable H channel only. Now pick black color and Color Paint: saturation of the green will decrease. Now pick bright red and paint: green will grow in saturation. Same applies to the other channels. |

ok, i just added it - painting with Shift inverts the color you're painting (white to black, blue to yellow, etc.) |
