Bug Description

hello,

try this:
import a .pdf shape file (vectorised text) in canvas
then trace a rectangle elsewhere in cavas
make the rectangle a shape by path/object to path
then add nodes by effects/modify path/add nodes

then do a step backwards by ctrl-z

and the .pdf disappears while it was not selected !

Confirmed on 22040. I'm attaching a PDF that causes this.

Steps to reproduce:
1- Create a new document
2- Import attached PDF
3- Create a shape (confirmed with rectangles, polygons and circles)
4- Turn it into a path
5- Apply Extensions->Modify path->Add nodes (I left default options)
6- Undo and PDF disappears, redo and it reappears. Selecting the imported PDF or not has no effect
Steps 2 and 3 can be inverted and the effect is the same.

in parts reproduced with Inkscape 0.47+devel 8860 on OS X 10.5.8

Undoing path modifications of extension in 'Extensions > Modify Path' (Add Nodes, Envelope, Fractalize, Jitter Nodes...) undoes the import of above attached PDF file '410846-test-LeWitt.pdf' as well.

Not reproduced with other - randomly chosen - PDFs.
Not reproduced with imported bitmaps.

Reproduced on Ubuntu 10.04, Inkscape trunk revision 9985.
Not specific to the add nodes extension, but can be reproduced with any other internal extension (even those, like Alphabet soup, which don't require a path to be selected or don't modify the existing imported elements).

Since this is exactly the same issue (the imported PDF makes heavy use of clippath) as Bug #248920 "Undo on external extensions deletes all clipped objects", I'm marking this one duplicate. Please comment or revert this status if you think the two issues need two different reports.

summary: - add nodes deletes imported pdf
+ Undo on external extensions deletes imported pdf
