Text missing when using text-to-path when saving as pdf

As of r19821 the text is absent in the PDF produced by saving as PDF.

Steps: as simple as:
- open new document
- write some text
- save as PDF

I am using Inkscape with Cairo 1.6.4_1 on Mac OS X 10.5.4. Cairo configuration options are:
