"Latency skew" related messages are too techy. Could they probably be more human readable, please? ;-)

Yes.
Hopefully we can even remove the need for it altogether. The base problem is that the system clock sometimes is out of sync with the timestamps on X11 events.
Tracking down some details on how to programatically determine those would allow us to get rid of this preference. That would be good.
