Crash on applying font

Steps to reproduce: Open Inkscape and use the text tool to type something. With the text still selected, go to Text >> Text and Font and change the font/font size. Press apply then close.

From terminal:

Cannot reproduce this on Windows XP, Inkscape build 21345.
There have been improvements in the Font selector since the release of 0.46. Would you be willing to try a development version, available at : http://inkscape.modevia.com/win32/

I have the same problem with different output; when I change the font in a text item inkscape crashes but with none of the warnings about entries in the font lister. I am using the jaunty package inkscape 0.465-ubuntu4
