Brush settings revert back to default even after saving new settings

 0.46+devel, built Jun 20 2008 for Windows...
If you create new brush settings for any brush and then save the settings as a new brush...the next time you open the brush tools and select that new brush, it defaults to the old default of the other brushes....but if you click away from it and reselect it,...the desired settings/characteristics return.

not reproduced with Inkscape 0.47 on OS X 10.5.8

Do you still see this issue with the current release version (Inkscape 0.47)?

Not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.3.1 either (based on default preferences, adding new presets for the calligraphy tool).

Closing due to lack of feedback. Feel free to reopen if you are able to reproduce the reported issue with current Inkscape versions (>= 0.48.x).
