Bug Description

When I try to use the program with a Wacom Bamboo tablet, once the cursor hovers over the program window, it freezes completely, and the program becomes totally unusable.

Some time ago, at an installation party, I configured a Wacom Bamboo and tried with Inkscape, and indeed it worked.
I'm not sure what is happening to you, but I'd say that the two works together. This was after 0.46.
I'd suggest to check your environment and setting.

Changed in inkscape:

What kind of settings are you referring to? The tablet works fine in other applications, but not in this. If there is a problem with my configuration or settings the issue should be generalized, not only with one program.

I'm having the same problem. When I try to use my Wacom Bamboo with inkscape 0.46 the on screen cursor seems stuck as I move the Bamboo's stylis around on the pad, occasionally the cursor will begin to move (usually in "jerky" jumps from point to point) only to freeze up again. If I switch back to my mouse, it works fine (i.e. I have complete control over the cursor)/switch back to the Bamboo's stylis the cursor is "sticky" again. My configuration is:

OS: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, v.3311 (build 2600)
Processor: 3.07 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
Memory: 2 gig
Secondary
Memory
(Harddrive): 160 gig (49 gig free)

There definitely seems to be something wrong with Wacom Bamboo compatibility with Inkscape

I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug 168646, as all these Wacom problems appear to be the same bug (which is actually a GDK bug).

Thomas Bleeker's explanation of how to fix the problem by changing a byte in the GDK DLL is given here: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=496958#c24

If you don't want to patch the DLL yourself, a copy of the patched DLL can be found here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/178823/comments/3
