Bug Description

This is with inkscape 0.46 on Windows. I have a PDF files that uses the standard PDF font Times-Roman for text (see left part of attached snapshot). When I import it into Inkscape, the font for all text is "Bistream Vera Sans", regardless of the font in the PDF.

Confirmed opening Adobe Illustrator files (pdf). My case is slightly different but I think it's related.
I cab see the right fonts on canvas, but if I select a text element the status area displays the default font "Bitstream Vera Sans".
The problem comes when I open the font dialog to change spacing, size or any style atribute. Since the text element is reported as Vera Sans, any change leads to loosing the font selection and fall into Vera Sans.

Changed in inkscape:
importance: Undecided → High
status: New → Confirmed

Reading this report more carefully and having found another one, I think the problem I described is more related to bug #219709.
This particular case seems to be caused by not having the font installed in the system. AFAIK the PDF importer in inkscape doesn't import the embedded fonts and you have to have them installed in the system if you want to get the right appearance.
Anyway, even with the right fonts installed the other bug is still present.
