Pattern file can't use href link

I'm customising my Pattern.svg file, and I notice I can't use patterns referencing others with href to apply transforms like scale; eg
    <pattern
       id="gradient_round_10lpi_long"
       inkscape:stockid="Gradient (10lpi round)"
       inkscape:collect="always"
       xlink:href="#gradient_round_5lpi_long"
       patternTransform="scale(0.1,0.1)" />

referencing a custom pattern which does show up and work. The patterns with href simply don't show up.
Rather than redefining complex patterns for different scales or other transforms/colours, it would be preferable to allow references to other patterns.

Hi - thanks for reporting this issue. As part of bug migration to GitLab, we're closing launchpad reports and migrating them to GitLab (if they still exist).

Oops, I was a bit shortsighted. Further testing revealed the issue is different. Now tracked https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/3346
