Potrace vectorizing tool is not able to do centerline form recognisition which is a must for working on plans.
Doing some research I've found another free vector tool called autotrace with no GUI implemented but with centerline capabilities. After exporting the result on .svg I've obtained the image attached, and after some other experiment I even could fill with colours the different regions.
Why not make an implementation of autotrace inside inkscape? It would give some very useful illustrator-like performances. |
It would be good for the "trace bitmap" feature to be capable of "centerline tracing": producing stroked paths which follow a path's centerlines rather than filled paths conforming to its outline. Autotrace can now do this, but it's not (as far as I know) supported by potrace. |
