Bug Description
Issue: Sluggish Click & Drag Performance for Groups of Lines
Step by Step:
1. Draw 3 straight lines with the Bezier tool.
2. Group the lines.
3. Deselect the group.
4. Now try to click and drag the group.
5. No issue!
Repeat the above, except in step 1 draw the lines with the Freehand tool.
Click and drag is *very* sluggish.
The lines look very similar in the SVG, so I cannot see the issue.
See the attached file.
Version: Inkscape 0.92.3 (2405546, 2018-03-11)
OS: Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit edition
Thank you!

Closing because not replicated in 1.0alpha (Linux Mint 19.1, Windows 10). The speed performance is slightly different but nowhere near as bad as in Inkscape 0.92.3 (ppa) or Inkscape 0.92.4 (flatpak) Linux Mint 19.1
As to the why there is a speed difference.
Your pencil tool has been set to a different mode (in the toolbar change it back to the first mode, i.e. Bezier. Options are in the top left corner of the screen). It is currently at BSpline or spiro, which causes the speed drop.
The speed drop is a bug, but a fix has been committed already in inkscape-dev. You can try that version here: https:/ /inkscape. org/release/ 0.92.x/ windows/
