Bug Description
Exactly what it says on the tin. Inkscape 0.92.2, and all others so far as I can tell.
Linking SVGs results in a bitmap with horrific resolution instead of a linked vector graphic.
Adding a linked SVG requires creating the XML from scratch or editing a different linked image URI to point to the SVG file, so I imagine I'm going to hear "it's unsupported." It's part of the SVG spec though, and it's a critical feature to anybody trying to use inkscape to lay out plots and figures for scientific use. As a figure gets revised the plot itself is updated many times, but the associated numbering/

In short, the <g> embed </g> works, as well as the layering trick.
But just <image src="foo.svg"> is rendered at screen resolution, sadly.
