WinXP - 0.46dev+devel: Segmentation fault in wxvault.dll

In current nightly build (18th December 2007) Inkscape occasionally crashes while trying to open or import the file. Unfortunately this is not always reproducible (see conversation in https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/168863).

However, when trying to debug I get the segmentation fault, and Inkscape doesn't start at all.

Since I don't know if this is connected to opening and importing files, I didn't mention that in the subject.

Is this on a Dell laptop with the embassy security suite installed on it by any chance? From googling that dll is causing random crashes for various other things too.
The other cases I found disabling that fixed it, but I dont know what that softwares meant to be doing, so dont know how good an idea that is.

Amazing :) Indeed, this is on Dell's laptop Latitude D820. Right now I'm not using it, but I'll check about that "embassy security suite" as soon as I can.

It never crossed my mind that laptop could be the reason.

I checked on laptop with EMBASSY software and on some PC without it. On the PC everything worked OK. So, obviously this is really connected with the EMBASSY Trust Suite. However, it seams that this is not Inkscape's problem.

I guess we can close this BUG than. Are there any some other suggestions?

Check for any updates from dell, there may have been a bugfix from them that will sort this, if the laptops of an age where you still have support from them then you could register a support ticket about it with them, but I wouldnt hold my breath on them doing anything...

I simply uninstalled that EMBASSY software. Now I don't get segmentation fault in wxvault.dll anymore. However, I still get segmentation fault when I try to import something to Inkscape. But this time it's in msvcrt.dll:
