Verdana font not displaying in Inkscape

Bug Description

I am currently using the 30th Nov dev vers for the Mac. I am running Tiger and I am having problems with the Verdana font, it's not displaying in the font drop down box. Verdana is a True Type font and from my understanding Inkscape should have no problem reading this type of font.

Works for me, however i am using windows vista business.
Are there any mac users out there that can confirm this?

This was filed against a now unsupported version of Inkscape. If the problem still persists for you with the current supported release (0.46 as of my writing this), please feel free to re-open this report.
