Bug Description

Subcurve is basically a section of a curve. I would like the option to have subcurve creation within spline creation process. If I start a curve, and end a curve, there should be some way to automatically define subcurve of the newly created curve based on your cursor position. Here's the reason why. To create perspective, you need to have two object which is to be considered as a vanishing point guide. You have to get all the way to the vanishing to create a object. Now, if you did had a subcurve option, you will not have to get all the way to the vanishing point to create a object. This is the main inspiration of this idea. Another inspiration of this idea is to make extremely smooth curves with the aid of subcurves. Instead of you manually placing vertex and line, you could make a smooth curve with very little vertexs as a base, and the subcurve shall define the resulting curve instead.

Would rotated guides work for the first purpose?

For the second request, have you tried out the BSpline option of the Pen tool yet? (http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/0.92#BSpline)

Or maybe either 'tweaking' the path with the Tweak tool, or dragging on a group of selected smooth nodes while pressing the Alt key could be what you mean?

If these do very different things, can you make a picture that describes what you're asking for?

Guide helps, but it's a slow solution to generate perspective vector drawings.

Here's a picture describing what I'd like to see - https://solidthinking.com/help/evolve/2017.3/win/en/subcurvelength_overview.png

The yellow line is the subcurve. This would allow you to create a line that goes to the vanishing point, but you don't have to make the line reach the vanishing point during the content creation. This would be the main usage of subcurve function during spline creation.

Here how it should work on Inkscape. Once the base curve is completed, Inkscape should automatically generate new lines, and you can define the curve based on the base line. That way, you can make a line reach the vanishing point, but after that you can generate a new line automatically and delete the base line automatically.
