Bug Description
version used: Windows built from 12/12/07 (German version):
steps to recreate:
1) draw two different paths A,B
2) select path A, shift-select path B
3) call the path along path effect (I get the following settings preselected in that case: repeat, snake, 0,0,0, duplicate and live preview!)
4) live preview shows path B along A
on the other hand:
5a) once I click 'ok' in the effect dialog it shows path A along B which is what I wanted
5b) instead of 5a) the correct effect also shows up once I change something in the effect dialog for example the distance

The right behavior (as noted in the Pattern along Path dialog) should be to fist select the pattern and then add "skeleton path" to the selection.
When you do that, call Pattern along Path dialog and use whatever the settings are there (no fiddling and changing, just hit OK) you get the opposite effect - the skeleton gets deformed along the pattern instead of the other way around. Even if you change the settings without anything selected and close the dialog (so you keep the settings), and then use the effect as usual (select pattern, then skeleton, then use dialog without changing it), you still get it backwards, the second object gets adjusted to the one selected first.
On the other hand, if you select pattern, skeleton, open Pattern along Path dialog and then change something in settings, even if its just to increase and decrease by the same amount, the transformation goes correctly, pattern gets adjusted to the skeleton.
If you use Live Preview you can "catch it red-handed" so to speak, select pattern then skeleton, open the dialog, the preview will be drawn immediately and it will be the wrong one (skeleton around pattern). If you change something in the dialog the preview will automatically update but this time the effect will be correct - pattern along skeleton.
During all this testing I stumbled upon a weird thing that didn't happen all the time - when I clicked on an arrow next to the Space between copies input box for example to increase or decrease the number, there were times when the numbers continued to change fast even after I released the mouse button (Python window appears every time you make even a small change but I guess it didnt in this case.)
Im using the build from Dec 16th on WinXP
