Bug Description

Bug: Font Awesome 5 Free-Solid (FA5FS) doesn't show in the list of fonts from the upper left drop down menu when in Text mode. When an icon was pasted in, it shows up as blank. If the letter was highlighted, FA5FS is listed at the top with a red line through it. There is also a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside that reported: "Font not found on system..." However, the other two fonts from Font Awesome showed and work as expected.

With the blank letter (icon) highlighted and the Text and Font panel open, Font Family area still show FA5FS with a red line through it. However, the icon does appear in the middle of the panel right below left, center right justifications.

System info:

Windows 10 64-bit
Inkscape 0.92.2
Font Awesome 5.0.8 (downloaded on 3/4/2018)

After downloading and unzipped the font, each font was opened from the folder:

fontawesome-free-5.0.8.zip\fontawesome-free-5.0.8\use-on-desktop

Font Awesome 5 Brands-Regular-400.otf
Font Awesome 5 Free-Regular-400.otf
Font Awesome 5 Free-Solid-900.otf

In the font viewer, the button "Install" was clicked. All three fonts installed fine.

Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Fonts showed that all three were installed. I doubled verified via FileManager and opening C:\Windows\Fonts.

Wordpad and Windows applications do detect and are able use FA5FS just fine.

Maybe you have seen this (?):

" SVG 1.1 (which for fonts is basically the same as CSS 2.1 ) defines the following font-selection properties:
font-family.
font-style: normal, italic, oblique.
font-variant: normal, small-caps.
font-weight: normal, bold, bolder, lighter, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900.
font-stretch: normal, wider, narrower, ultra-condensed, extra-condensed, condensed, semi-condensed, semi-expanded, expanded, extra-expanded, ultra-expanded.

Since Inkscape relies on SVG, it cannot directly support a weight of 1000. Also, SVG and CSS have no way to distinguish between two faces in the same font-family that differ in away not described by the above properties (e.g. Pochoir Regular and Pochoir Sprayed). "

Thanks for the explanation. What are some options to make it work?
