2017-12-14 20:24:19 Alex Farlie description In a recent use case - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/542416/traffic-sign-drawing-schedule-02-part-02-item-08-p512.pdf It was needed to place a 'guide' perpendicular to an established guide being a 'fixed' distance from some origin point of that guide. There did not seem to be an easy option to do this.. so I did a very simple screenshot attached. (Screenshot 1) There didn't seem to be an option for placing ( or moving it a) fixed distance along or from the origin of another guide, in the options for relative displacement. It would be nice to have the ability to do this, so I don't have to spend time figuring out all the relevant trig conversions manually, and can just tell new guides to move a fixed d parrallel (or perpendicular to another guide (taking into account that the other guide) may be rotated. This would mean I can spend more time on drawing, and less on math. In a recent use case - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/542416/traffic-sign-drawing-schedule-02-part-02-item-08-p512.pdf (A working drawing for a UK traffic sign, available here - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/traffic-signs-working-drawings-tsrgd-2016-schedule-2 under what seem to be Open Government Licence Terms) It was needed to place a 'guide' perpendicular to an established guide, being a 'fixed' distance from some origin point of that guide, and parallel with a line segment. There did not seem to be an easy option to do this.. so I did a very simple screenshot attached. (Screenshot 1) There didn't seem to be an option for placing ( or moving it a) fixed distance along or from the origin of another guide, in the options for relative displacement. It would be nice to have the ability to do this, so I don't have to spend time figuring out all the relevant trig conversions manually, and can just tell new guides to move a fixed d parallel along another guide (which may be rotated from the normal x,y axes), from that guides origin. This would mean I can spend more time on drawing, and less on math :) I'm sorry if my explanation isn't that clear, which is why I linked the relevant diagram directly.
2017-12-14 20:25:58 Alex Farlie summary WISHLIST: Option to place a parallel guide based on it being a defined distance from a guide origin along another guide WISHLIST: Option to place a parallel/perpendicular guide based on it being a defined distance from a guide origin along another guide.
