These commands complete successfully:
inkscape a.svg -g --verb=
inkscape *.svg -g --verb=
These fail, presumably after the chain of commands finishes for the first file:
inkscape a.svg b.svg -g --verb=
inkscape *.svg -g --verb=
$ inkscape --version

$ uname -srvmo

confirmed on Windows 10, Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), using the command: EditSelectAll --verb= SelectionSimpli fy --verb=FileSave --verb=FileClose --verb=FileQuit

the first file opens and then the crash message popup appears saying:
Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close now.
