Disable Windows Shortcut keys

Bug Description

This is a new user question or feature request:
I use Ctrl-shift-letter to start various, unrelated (to Inkscape) Windows apps. Thus Windows intercepts some of my Inkscape commands to run these apps. Is there a way to disable the Windows shortcut keys while an Inkscape window is active? Currently using Win7 but will upgrade soon to Win10.

What does Windows documentation say about this?

Inkscape offers you the option to set different keyboard shortcuts via Edit > Preferences > User Interface > Keyboard shortcuts

Hi Hachmann,
Thanks for the reply.
As a rank beginner, I'd prefer not to alter Inkscape's UI. Maybe
later if I get proficient. I assume that Inkscape's programmers had
good reasons for the choices they made and I don't want to
second-guess them at this point. As for disabling Windows keyboard
shortcuts, I was able to google up instructions for disabling Winkey
+ X type shortcuts but they involved registry editing, reboots, etc.
Besides, I don't use Winkey shortcuts. For example I have a
Shift-Ctrl-J keyboard shortcut to start Notepad on a text file that's
a daily journal for me. Shift-Ctrl-L brings up a frequently used
Excel spreadsheet. And I have about twenty more of these Shift-Ctrl
type shortcuts. At this point I have to edit each pertinent shortcut
and disable the shortcut key feature. I have not yet found a way to
easily and collectively disable such shortcuts during Inkscape
sessions and re-enable them afterwards. Ideally, Inkscape itself
could be configured to disable them while an Inkscape window was open.

Hi Kelly,
As i understand you, you want to disable windows shortcut keys. I can help in this. You need to just follow steps given below
1. Click windows> type run> type regedt32 and enter
2. Now navigate to System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
3. Now edit the value and set the binary value 00000000000000000300000000005BE000005CE000000000 and enter
4. Close the all apss and restart your computer.
Your windows shortcut keys are disabled.

Thanks Roger.
I was hoping to disable the Windows shortcut keys only while the
Inkscape window was active but not when other windows are active.
A less desirable but still useable option would be to disable
shortcut keys whenever Inkscape was running but its window was not
necessarily active.
I don't want to globally disable shortcut keys--they're really handy
which is why I use so many of them.
Thank you for your suggestion.
