Text tool icon missing from tool menu

Text tool missing entirely from the left side text tool menu.

- also it would be very helpful to see a screenshot, for example, this is what I get on Windows 10, Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06)

are you able to see the Bezier Tool (Shift-F6) on the left,
or the Calligraphy Tool (ctrl-F6)
or the Spray Tool (shift-F3)?

Yes I can access those with the commands. I now know about the hidden menu items double arrow thanks to another user. I can now get the text tool using that but it is still no longer in the visible menu.

how high is your screen size? As far as I can tell, the text tool should be visible if your monitor is more than about 612 pixels high.

I'd check the icon size in the Preferences>Interface... try a smaller setting.

Closing as part of migration of bugs to GitLab. Reading the comments, this doesn't appear to be a bug (OP can access the text tool via a "hidden menu items double arrow", implying the screen size is too small). If there is a bug, this report lacks enough info at the moment to move over to GitLab.
