Linked offset adds segment

Bug Description

I'm tying to make a linked offset of an unclosed path but the process
adds a segment between the unlinked nodes on the new version (the
original stays the same). The problem ossurs on "Inkscape 0.44.1, built
Sep 25 2006" running on : Debian "etch" 4.0r1 AMD64.

I'd appreciate a workaround or a notice when the issue is fixed.

Happens in 0.45.1 and SVN HEAD for me.

I found a workaround : I make a segment between the unconnected nodes and I hide it behind another segment.

This is not too bad for a simple path but gets unpractical as the amount of nodes increases.
