Editing points on multiple objects

There needs to be a way to edit points on multiple objects simultaneously.
Sorry if I am ignorant and there already is a way. It is good that you can
easily work on one object without accidentally selecting the points of
another (this is a problem with Illustrator) but sometimes you do need to
modify two objects at once.

Currently if you have multiple objects selected and you enter the node
editing tool, or if you select multiple objects with the node editing tool
it just becomes useless. It should allow you to edit the point of both/all
selected objects.
