Vector based brush tool

something I feel inkscape is missing is more texture in the designs people
make with it.

a brush tool would bring us lightyears ahead.

Its something Illustrator users still complain about non stop is Adobe
gives them poor brushes.

In having a brush tool it would also be important to have a way to Import
brushes or create custom user brushes.

This is one of those features that I desperately want in Inkscape.
If it helps, I think this feature was implemented best in the long-gone (but still obtainable) Creature House Expression (good screenshot of the strokes feature in use: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Expression3_in_WINE.jpg). Perhaps Inkscape could implement the feature in a similar fashion?
(The current shape feature is a start, but it doesn't yet feature saving custom shapes or switching from one shape to another.)
