Bug Description
ability to select the embedded raster image and right mouseclick it to have
an option of 'edit in the gimp'
then when editing is done, you save in the gimp - close and the raster
graphic is updated in the inkscape canvas.
steps, or use case
desired functionality start with step 5
1. create new drawing in incase
2. realize a raster graphic is needed to augment the drawing.
3. import the raster graphic and use the extension to embed the
graphic into the canvas.
4. after further work on the canvas you would like the raster to be
modified some to better mesh with the rest of the inkscape created
drawing.
5. right mouse click on the raster graphic, the context menu has an option
to 'edit in gimp'
6. gimp opens with the raster image opening
7. complete desired edits and touches to the raster image
8. save
9. close gimp
10. inkscape is now in focus and the image has been updated in inkscape to
reflect the edits done in steps 6-8
The idea for this functionality has been in my head for a while, but really
came to a point when using f-spot and discovered this functionality. In
there you can open in gimp to do more advanced edits when you save it
f-spot is updated with the new image (granted it will create a new version
and does version control, though that would not be needed in inkscape -
only the edits are needed to be committed to the oritional photo in the
canvas.)
