Angled Guidelines!

It would be extremely helpful if inkscape could angle guidelines. So many
times when I'm working I would love to snap elements to a 45 degree axis or
even and arbitrary angle, but no such capability currently exists.

You can enable "snap nodes to paths" and snap nodes to any path, including
a 45 degree line.

I am newbie, but an expert with the use of the core drawing features of
Coreldraw.

I find it difficult to make objects snap properly to guides. There should
be many snapping points on any given object. Also, the various "fixture
points" on a given object (say, the two points on a star) have to be
snappable to guides as well. I will now take my time to see if I can get
the requested behaviour using paths.
