Bug Description

Please add support of external DTDs

I have a lot of text that is defined as entities in an external DTD file.
They are used in several inkscape SVG files. It would be so nice if I could
have the SVG reference the DTD.

Setting up an internal DTD reference works like a charm, which requires me
to copy and paste the contents of the DTD into the inkscape file EVERY
SINGLE TIME I save the file. You cannot believe how time consuming and
aggrevating that is. Especially if you need to make tiny adjustments to ALL
SVG files at once.

filing sample files would be helpful

There are known issues with Corel SVG and their use of external DTDs

if you could check existing reports and help ensure this request is not
already covered already it would also be appreciated.

See attached examples. Aim is to load the text "TEST TEXT" through the
entity &test;, which is added twice in the SVG. Please note that examples 2
through 4 contain illegal XML, but only #4 works. It doesn't really matter
what URI I enter as DTD reference, the result is the same.

Another frustration is that inkscape either gives a "could not load" error
or ignores the bad code completely. A more detailed error message would be
helpful.

I should note that if Inkscape could auto-insert a DTD reference, then we could arrange for standard HTML entities to become defined. One checkbox in Preferences would be enough for defaulting. A similar checkbox would be added to the document properties window for that document. Then would we expose that in the XML editor?
