Bug Description
An option in the Inkscape Preferences is needed to draw the bitmaps in a
file when it is rendered in Outline Mode (This was the old behavior, and
now a red X is drawn instead of the bitmap)
The reason is simple: this would be useful to trace bitmaps by hand.

Also a big deal for me. I primarily use Inkscape to trace bitmap outlines, which I find more useful - and pleasurable - than the nightmare that is trying to use the trace tool.
When zoomed in very close for precision work, Inkscape slows considerably in rendering the page. Using the outline mode solves this problem, but if it takes away the bitmap, it loses half its usefulness.
