Bug Description
(resubmitting, Sourceforge logged me out in the time it
took to write the last report which I will delete when
this goes through)
Very Low Priority. A little idea idea which might
interest an external developer since it could be
carried out independantly. I doubt this would be
complicated enough for a google summer of code project
though.
The idea is straight out of Macromedia Freehand:
"To open the Text Editor as you create a new text
block, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Macintosh) as
you click in the Document window."
(screenshot to follow)
The Text Editor provides the user with fairly basic
functionality but does so in a way that could not
easily or cleanly be crammed inside the main window.
There are only really 2 options
[] Select 12 Point Black
[] Show Invisibles
12 Point black is shows the text without style or
colouring for best readabilty/
show invisible shows non printing characters and
formatting marks such as spaces and line breaks.
I hope you can see how this might be helpful for users
especially in the case of flow text which could be
appearing in various differnt pieces onscreen.
To reiterate seperate text editor could offer more
advanced features than you could safely stick in the
main window.
Implementation note:
the developer who choose to implement this would of
course have a lot of discretion on how best to do
things but it would be wise to seperate out the mini
text editor so that it could at least in theory work as
a standalone editor (not that it should ever need to be
used that way, or appear any less integrated to the
user) and again in theory be possible for another
editor to be put in place of it without requiring
massive code surgery.
