Bug Description

Would it be possible to make Inscape load a markers.svg file at launch
time located in say home/.inkscape/markers, as /usr/share/inkscape/
markers/markers.svg is not marked as read/write for the user, at least on
Mac OS X?

Hence even if the user uses sudo to make the change in /usr/share, then
next time a new version is installed, he will lose his changes.

I am reasonably sure there is a place for users to put their
custom markers somewhere in $HOME as you suggest, dont have
it memorised
best bet is to ask on the user mailing list or on IRC at

My request was more general, to ensure that the Inkscape Fink package (or
any other one eventually) has this feature, so that users
don't need to change something in /usr/share.

Maybe something like a default markers in /usr/share/inkscape/markers/,
automatically copied at first launch in HOME/.inkscape/
markers or whatever if and only if it does not exist already. And
subsequent loading will load the one in HOME if it exists, otherwise
the one in /usr/share.

This way, the default is memorized, and the customized also.
