Bug Description
A "thinning" operation would be desirable, whereby an
entire path (or a selected group of nodes) could be
optimally simplified within a specified tolerance, t. A
candidate node would be removed if doing so would
result in a deviation from the original path of t or
fewer pixels.

'Path > Simplify' has already been implemented, still missing feature is thinning a selection of nodes: linking as duplicate to bug #170441 “Simplify selected nodes”:
