Bug Description
It would be great to have an option to be able to
export the text contained in the image, change it and
import it back to the image.
Of course, the text would have to be tagged somehow in
order to reserve and restore the correct sequence of
exported strings.
This feature would be essential for translation of
technical drawings and other graphics. The only program
I know which is capable of doing that is Corel Draw
(and the feature is not easily accessible there).

Look at dropshadow.inx in the inkscape/extensions directory.
This is a good example of how to write an effect to process
individual SVG objects one at a time.
If you were to write your onw custom effect, you could slect
one or more text objects in your drawing, then run your
effect to provide whatever transformation you want.
