Bug Description

Often, when I need a SVG file to be portable accross
dissimilar machines, I will convert text to a path.
This works but at the cost of editability. It would be
nice to be able to embed font's in the SVG itself.

SVG Fonts are designed for just this task and are a
necessary part of SVG compliance. This is part of the long
term plans for Inkscape.

Please help us by checking through the list of reports to
make sure this is not a duplicate report.

Inkspace can now embed fonts in PDF and eps; hopefully SVG isn't far away.

I think that the support of svg font belongs now to the roadmap.
Setting the status to "in progress".
