Bug Description

Effects are nice, but they impose a certain work-flow
of "design, code, test, reuse".

I've been using inkscape for creating technical
drawings. It is often the case that I want to perform
some set of exact and non-trivial actions such as
semi-complex alignment rules. Like "position the n
selected items vertically the same as object_a and
object_b with a center horizontal position of
(item+1)/(n+2)*(horizontal space between object_a and
object_b)+(horizontal position of object a). Such a
quick little statement could be uttered out in just
moments, with more accuracy and less work that it would
take to accomplish the same manually (or by creating
proxy objects and using the canned alignment tools).

Such a shell could also be setup for inputting exact
numeric data, and it would encourage people to learn
the API thus vastly increasing the number of effects
available.

Ishmal, is your existing console up to such tasks? If not it
would be nice to adapt it for that.

Please create any such feature as language-neutral as
possible. Some people may enjoy using it with Ruby or Perl
for example. ;-)
