Lab color mode

This feature request is very simple: add the ability to
work in Lab color mode, or at the very least add a Lab
color selection slider to the fill/stroke panel. Lab I
am a huge fan of, and I hate to ever not be using it.
The colors are richer, more accurate, and gradients are
extremely dynamic. My favorite thing about Lab is the
ability to make a gradient from dark orange to light
blue and get a bonus skintone in the middle of the two
because of the way the transition accross a and b
behave independently. I absolutely love it.

Sorry, but for SVG it's not a MUST, as it's not a true option. At least
not with
SVG 1.1.

Section 12.1 of the SVG specification explicitly states "that color
interpolation
occurs in an RGB color space even if an ICC-based color specification is
provided"

However, there are ways being planned to at least specify colors in
different
ways, including CMYK and spot colors.

Hello,

Thank you for the reply Joncruz. I just want to say that a
lot of Inkscapre users see this software not only as a web
graphics editor and not as an SVG only editor, but also as a
print graphics editor. This is why there are so much feature
requests in the field of printing stuff (PDF support, AI
export, LAB color mode, crop marks etc...)

Of course LAB is maybe not a prority, but it's a plus. Let's
hope that in the future we'll see LAB color model
implemented :)

After 0.44 is released, we'll be working on integrating LittleCMS more to
allow
for colors in the SVG with ICC-Color instead of just sRGB tripplets. Once
colors
can be stored as LAB, then adding a picker to select those makes sense.
