Bug Description

Change a freehand line/path/ and thus the shape
enclosed by it:

Enable the freehand line tool such that you can position
the tool on or near a path to redraw the line, and drag
the tool until the path is the desired shape.

In other words: adjust the path by drawing again close to
it to fix the parts you don't like.

This would be like pencil/paper drawing where the artist
often geets the required line by progressive drawing and
redrawing.

I can testify that this feature is extremely useful for
freehand illustration: It exists in Adobe Illustrator and I
use it a lot there.

Create two modes for the tool: Adjust and redraw.

In redraw, the new stroke should follow the mouse as if it
was a new one.

In adjust, the distance between the mouse and the old stroke
determines the amount of adjustment. Think of a magnet:
Drawing closely to the stroke will work more like redraw
while drawing farther away, it will just influence the
stroke a bit.

This should help to round forms, iron out kinks, etc.

This feature would make it possible for me to move to
inkscape. I would use inkscape for graphics for 2d animated
film.

Pretty pretty please? :)

Isn't this feature in exempli gratia:
http://www.desktoplinux.com/news/NS7669372731.html ,
"Better Node Editing -- One may freely drag, bend, and
stretch a Bezier curve by any point and not only by a node.
Also, one may easily add a new node at any point on the curve."

Magnet and deform tools are available in some applications,
IIRC the implementation in Freehand is pretty useless, but
the Adobe tool is O.K. If you need either of tools, you
should probably search for corresponding RFEs and submit
new, if there are none.

Nothing new on this request? This feature would make it
possible for me to switch some illustrator projects over to
inkscape, and I would reaally like to do that as soon as it
is possible :(
