Bug Description
Rendering of previews of WMF (EMF?) images with gdk-pixbuf has an extremely poor performance as noticed in bug #1616844.

The file is extremely simple but hogs a huge amount of memory and takes a long time to load until the preview is shown.
Note that the issue might be exclusive to Windows and gdk-pixbuf's native GDI+ loaders (a confirmation from *nix users is still missing though)
