Recognize hand drawing as block diagram

Hi,

I came across this cool Simulink extension where the
first step is making block diagrams from sketches drawn
with a pencil:

It would be cool if Inkscape could recognize boxes and
connectors and draw them as such.

True, but something like this is hard to implement - ie.
when u need to distingush if a egg-formed shape should be a
circle, rectangle or just a bezier-line. Also it is not
precise enought when u want exact coordinates/measurements.

I think it would be better to let the user first choose what
to draw
   (ie. circle, line or rectangle)
and then choosing a constructional method
   (ie. circle: by midpoint and radius; by three point to go
throught; or by Tangent/Tangent/Radius)

Inkscape should then calculate the needed svg-values (ie.
circle: cx, cy, r) from the points the user defines.

Link is not working.

I can't agree with 'nobody', straightening up hand entered
drawings, cartoons and sketches is an obvious application of
computer technology, particularly with a Wacom pad type
input devices (I think that the Apple Newton did it by
default) and we should certainly add this.

On the other hand, the suggestion that we should be able to
operate Inkscape in 'colon' or 'last-line' mode is an
excellent one, and one that I had already put on my personal
list of things to fit into mu 'copious free time'.
