Inkscape make a file bigger when saving

Bug Description

I create an image in inkscape 0.48 and when I try to open it again the application often crashes with a glib error. I then downloaded inkscape 0.92.1 and tried omporting the same file, it takes about a minute but I can then see that inkscape 0.48 added a lot of (points/dots) scatteredall over the page or around the image which makes the image increase in size thus it crashes when on tries to open it again. Please see attachment

Those dots could also be selected objects. Could you rather provide the SVG file?

It might also be that the file has been corrupted in the old Inkscape version.

Good Day
Thanks for the reply.I checked the file size of a few .svg images I created
using inkscape 0.48 and some of them are between 16Mb - 20Mb. These images
are usually up to 5Mb max.
As mentioned, I import the image into 0.92.1 and it takes a very long time
to import the image (Clinton Leeuw.svg 29.5Mb) once it is open, I select
(just the image) of the two headstones and try to export it as a bitmap on
0.92.1, It then calculates the image to be 116044x61711 - 26.5Mb .... the
image selected should be no more than 2Mb max.

Hi,
I was not able to open the image called Leeuw.png, I get a message saying it is not a valid bitmap file. However I was able to load the file ClintonLeeuw.svg. It took a while to load. When I click on the Select All menu item I get a lot of rectangles that look like your image in comment 1. When I interrogate these objects it appears that they are mostly either <flowroot> elements or <text> elements, except that the text in them consists of just a single blank space. I am attaching a typical flowroot element below.
I guess the question is, where did they originate? Your initial comment seemed to say that this image was originally created in an earlier version of Inkscape. Could you attach that original image for comparison purposes?

Here's the fixed file:
(removed flowed texts, cleaned up defs, resized objects, so they are in actual size, at least in relation to width, the proportions were already incorrect, centered contents on page, resized page to contents)

Hi Alvin
Thanks for the feedback. I used Vacuum Defs in 0.48 on one of my images
that was 13MB and it decreased it to just over 1mb :-) . Is the a program
that can scan through all my images that I created with inkscape and do the
same job? Do I have to click on each image and run vacuum defs?
Remember that if and image is too big in 0.48, The app crashes when opening
the image.... or if Itry opening it with 0.92... it literally takes forever
to open.
