Bug Description

It would be great if there was some way to use SVG-ized
fonts. Not all computers have the same fonts installed,
but what if there was a library of fonts that were not
.ttf's, but a set of .svg's instead?

even better, what if you could auto-trace the fonts so that
obscure fonts show up no matter what you have installed?

If you want your texts to be readable on another
machine, use "Convert to paths" (Ctrl+Shift+C). This way
you'll have your fonts as paths and they will be readable
anywhere.

Better, propose it as an option before saving and store only 1
shape for each letter and then use reference/defs to the
shape.

It would be nice to be able to save "all" vs "only used"
characters

I think the first poster was talking about using (a new flavor
of) SVG to store fonts instead of ttf ( which sounds like a
good idea : I had the same :) )
