Bug Description

Assign a simple to reach hotkey (single key) to repeat the
last operation performed. Especially helpfull for boolean
ops, to cut out fonts and such. After you click 'Difference',
selecting the next objects and pressing eg. a will repeat
this op.

Single key shortcuts would not be in line with the Gnome
Human interface Guidelines and so would only be used
sparingly (and for the really important stuff like switchign
the drawing tools).

I'm sure a shortcut for "Repeat Last Filter" will be added
(just like the GIMP and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator).

I wonder if a generalised "Repeat" is really necessary?

The boolean ops all have keybindings now so this enhancement
seems unnecessary.
If you have tried out an up to date version of Inkscape like
version 0.39 and still think repeat would be useful then
please add another comment.

This would be useful for actions like Edit -> Paste Size -> Paste Size, as
it doesn't have a hotkey but you sometimes need to perform it several times
in a row.

PS: I'm a different anonymous.

Hi everyone

I would like to describe a different use case for this requested feature: "transform again".

Something like this:

- You move/scale/rotate an object.
- You select another object, apply the "repeat" command and it transforms exactly the same way (in relative coordinates).

Anyway, I think a global repeat feature would be awesome. But we should figure out exactly how to keep the behavior consistent across different tools, and apply it only to the ones that make sense.

What do you think?

Note: I mean all this to be made visually (drag - repeat), not using the existing transform tool, which already supports the repetition of the last transformation.

Perhaps I can relate my experience to what I think is needed. I produce
campground maps and there are times when a customer calls for a change.
Example: Making the numbers on campsites larger. The text is buried
between other size text and different fonts. It requires clicking on each
campsite number separetly to change the font size. It would be beneficial
to be able to click on the next number and use a "ctrl+r" to repeat the
new font size. I have used this hundreds of time in Corel Draw and it has
saved hours of work. I have used it for changing site colours within a
map, rotating figures and text. I understand your application and this too
would be beneficial. I have switched over from Corel Draw to Inkscape and
I should have done this years ago. Thank you for looking into people's
concerns and suggestions.

For that precise case, you can copy parameters from one text to the other, using Ctrl+C on one and then Ctrl+Shift+V on the others. Or apply the first transformation using the transform panel and then applying it again on the other texts.

Anyway, I still think (so I agree with you) that repeating a transformation or a boolean operation could be useful and support other types of workflow.
