Bug Description

Even though the following behavior in no way affects what I am trying to accomplish, I am reporting it as a bug because it deviates from the behavior described in the documentation.

In case it matters, my operating environment is: 32 bit Inkscape V 0.92.1, 32 bit Windows 10 V 1607.
My goal was to create a custom crosshatch fill pattern. To accomplish that I:

1. Opened the default Inkscape
2. In “Document Properties” I set the display and custom size units to inches and set
        the height and width of the page to .17 inches because that is the size I wanted it to be.
3. Returning to the canvas, I enabled snapping to the page border and
4. Drew diagonal lines connecting the opposite corners of the page
5. I selected both lines (by adding the first line drawn to the current selection of
        the second line)
6. Then: Object->Pattern->Objects to Pattern

The result of this was what appeared to be an empty visual bounding box reflecting the size of the pattern. The pattern that, according to the documentation, was supposed to be visible, had disappeared.

To provide more information, I offer the following:

Leaving the bounding box selected, if the page size is increased (I usually select U.S. letter size) and then zoom to fit the page to the window, in the lower left corner of the page will be the selection with the pattern now visible.

If one then zooms to fit the selection (or the drawing), the pattern again disappears from the zoomed image.

Furthermore, I accidentally found that if the pattern was larger, the pattern did not disappear. I repeated the above procedure for page sizes of: .34”, 1”, .5”, and .25”. The pattern disappeared for the page sizes of .34” and .25” but persisted for page sizes of .5” and 1”.

Thanks for your consideration.
