Bug Description
Summary says it all. The operating system provides all kinds of
functionality that is useful to the point of being a necessity. Please, use
the common dialogs supplied by the system (i.e. Windows common dialogs on
Win32, KDE common dialogs on KDE, etc.).

And please make the same apply to the "Do you wish to save?" dialog as
well. At least on Windows, Inkscape shows a totally different dialog than
all other applications do. When you get the dialog you're used to you know
what to click - if you get something totally different that's very
confusing. What's especially dangerous is that the buttons are located in
different positions - the "Discard all changes" button is where the "Yes"
(I want to save) button is supposed to be. Please use a standard messagebox
for this, like so:
[ Inkscape ]
/!\ The drawing TitleOfDrawingHere has been changed.
Do you want to save it?
[ Yes ] [ No ] [ Cancel ]
Inkscape is a really great drawing program, but a little more attention to
details like this could make it even better. Good luck!
