(only the interesting parts below)

[08:24:46] <alexgirao> hi folks, im using latest inkscape and realized that
it does not work with font names starting with numbers, and font names
containing dots. why? can someone fix this? can some one help me to fix
this?
[08:26:46] <ACSpike[Work]> alexgirao: I'd assume that is a pango/fontconfig
issue
[08:27:01] <alexgirao> but gimp work fine
[08:27:12] <alexgirao> also waterfall
[08:27:16] <ACSpike[Work]> what os?
[08:27:25] <alexgirao> debian unstable
[09:01:19] <alexgirao> inkscape does not support font names starting with
numbers or containing dots, i confirmed this by editing the "problematic"
font with fontforge (http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/) and solve the
problem (an annoying workaround)
[09:04:56] <^-> [aho] alexgirao, and gimp if fine with that kind of fonts?
[09:05:19] <ACSpike[Work]> alexgirao: please file a bug report
[09:05:26] <alexgirao> yes, gimp works fine.. other tools also works
[09:05:32] <^-> [aho] ok
[09:05:39] <^-> [aho] yea... a bug report would be nice then :)
[09:05:48] <alexgirao> ok
[09:14:22] <alexgirao> i will write the bug report, but with someone wants
to check the problem in advance, the font i used was:

I tried the font Frutiger SBIN Rm v.1. I started typing in it, and there
was no crash.

I have this problem, too. Will there be a bugfix-release before 0.46? or is there a workaround?

the best workaround is to download a daily build or 0.46 pre1 and help us test it
